Description
Another week of stifling heat,
Hazy days with no relief
From my porch in the cool of evening,
Cicadas sing a monotonous beat,
Cattle low from nearby fields,
As if bemoaning their ordeal.
Another sound...could it be?
On the roof, there above me.
Fingers tapping lightly on tin,
Palms bought together, clapping begins.
I get to my feet, full of elation,
A thunderous applause, its a standing ovation!
The show plays out from the heavens above,
Thank you God, the rains have come!
